Are the prices charge for implant cases going down in your local markets?
I am starting to see this in California and Nevada where there are advertisements for lower cost implants (below $2000 for both an implant and crown) and for the implant alone below $999. This is not only from the GP's but also from some specialist.
Do you see this in your local areas?
If so what other ways can the doctors reduce their costs to compete?
Hi Keith – yes I'm hearing about it from several different areas but definitely in the more financially impacted areas. Docs are fighting for patients now more than ever and aggressive marketing is happening as a result. I'm sure you're seeing a demand for lower priced components as well!
Today, my experience of being seen by a well-known dentist (fellow, no less) was trumped by the service I received by the office's insurance specialist. Exemplifying empathy and general good-naturedness, she walked me through the treatment plan and addressed my numerous questions.
I was neither surprised by the treatment needed (I live in this body) nor the expense of it. However, when the insurance specialist stated that, "dental insurance companies know that you can live without teeth," I immediately felt a dissonance that's stayed with me.
Here's why: a couple of centuries ago, a woman turning 55 meant that her life was close to being over. Expectations were low. Thanks to advancements, those expectations no longer are valid. It would be considered quite odd for a person to look at a 55-year-old woman and state that she could expect very few more years of life.
And in the period of time, many people lost their teeth before they passed on. Expectations were low regarding dental integrity. Thanks to advancements, those expectations are also no longer valid. Why is it OK then for a person (or an organization, such as a dental insurance company) to assume that one does not need to have their teeth to the end of life? Medieval, I say!

I think we need a better system for these kind of dental problems and woes. It seems like everyone is having problems with their teeth and it looks like we are about to enter yet another recession. . .I’m honestly a little scared these days about how I can support my family. We need to have a discussion on REAL resources out there to help single mothers like us take care of our family… I know about
but are there any other great organizations that help people get connected to doctors for discounted health prices that can help? We don’t qualify for government assistance! healthsouk

My company Implant Depot.com provides compatible implants and abutments for many of the major brands plus torque wrenches/drivers and bone material. Our quality is excellent and pricing is very attractive. Most of my clients are general dentist who are tired of having to buy a larger quantity of implants and components to receive the “deal”. Please let me know how we can make this happen.

I’m a single mom and I have 2 kids who both needed dental braces. I make just enough to not qualify Medicaid services so I can’t get free dental and medical services for the kids. I had to pay over $4800 so that my child can have braces and a beautiful smile. . .She was very scared and timid at school. I couldn’t find anyone in Los Angeles who would do the braces at a normal price so I had to launch find it with free services like http://www.healthsouk.com (HealthSouk- the dental discount plan or discounted dentistry) and http://www.1800dentist.com (800 dentist) The first one was free and the second apparently charges the dentist but not me.healthsouk

Hi – I was wondering if you accepted guest posts? I’m editor of the Love Teeth dental blog – a UK based blog for the general public. The website is http://www.loveteeth.co.uk – my email is sanchia@loveteeth.co.uk – hope to hear from you soon.
I read that some people with sensitivity to sulfa are also sensitive to the BPA in dental sealants. They have had dermatitis problems. Our daughter has been dealing with an unknown allergy that is causing ongoing excema. She has been avoiding things she knows she is sensitive to including sulfa, with no relief. Is it possible the dental sealants are the problem? Are there sealants that do not contain BPA? thanks. Kathy
A bridge I had for 25 years recently came loose. After a root canal on one of the anchors, I have been advised to put in 2 implants to replace the missing teeth.
My general dentist indicated the cost would be between $1750 & $1950 (by a dental surgeon) per implant and then the additional costs for abutment & crown.
This being outside of my budget I looked for alternatives. I hope somenone will share their experience with me.
I decided to visit a dental group who advertises on television Implants for $499.00.
The experience was very satifactory. I was examined by the general dentist and also a periodontist who would the implant. All the staff was very pleasant and accomodating and the equipment state of the art.
The implant system they use is MIS.
I have since learned that the dentist, Brian a. Ferber, Greeacres, Fl has had unhappy potential patients, mostly I feel from individual seeing the ad believing they will get a completed implant to finished crown for $499.00.
The dental plan given to me is $499.00 as adverised for the implant and $1260.00 additional for the abutment & crown.
I would like to go forward with this and would like your opinions on the MIS product and if anyone can comment as well regarding the Ferber Dental Group.
Unhappy patients are more than likely due to their unrealistic expectations. Dr. Ferber uses a well made implant that is manufactured in Israel and has a proven track record. I compete directly against them with a similar implant also made in Israel.
His fees for the entire procedure are very reasonable and from my experience in working with other dental implant centers which may be similar to Dr. Ferber’s practice I would definitely have an implant placed by any of them.
The reason is that they place alot of implants and provide a quality service at a reasonable price.
Enjoyed the seminar on The Agony of the Code at Yankee Dental this past week given by Teresa Duncan. She mentioned that we could get a copy of the form about questions to ask the insurance company and narratives that work to just send her an e-mail. I must say that of all the insurance seminars I've attended in the last 25 yrs or so that her seminar covered most of the "real" office insurance headaches. She was informative and instructive to both "newbies" and us "older" gals. A great presentation!
I'm contacting you on behalf of Neoss – a specialist dental implant company based in the UK, offering solutions for patients and professionals. They currently export 95% of their products to the US, Germany, Italy and Australia.
Would it be possible to link to the Neoss website from your blog? I thought it may be a useful link to your readers
If not, I'm wondering if it would be possible for us to post a guest blog post? This post would be an article on the subject of dental implants and ideally linking to Neoss within the post.
Would you be willing to allow me to contribute to your blog? I can provide original, quality content written by two highly reputable dentists from Southern California. In exchange for backlinking to our website.
I stumbled across your blog and thought you might be interested in our company. We are a 3D dental anatomy simulation software company. It was started by Dr. Mark Piper, DDS, MD, a TMJ surgeon in St. Petersburg, FL who speaks about Joint Based Occlusion throughout the United States.
We've just launched are software for dentists. I'm trying to get the word out about our software through social media channels. I would very much enjoy your and your reader's perspective on our software. Your feedback would be most welcome. Perhaps you would like to write a product review to post on your blog. The software is free to download at AnomalousMedical.com. If you want to do a bit more, there are apps and simulations (plugins to the software) for purchase. We would be willing to give you temporary access to some of the simulations and apps for the purposes of a review.
A little about the software:
The apps and simulations we've created to allow users to recreate a patient's occlusion and joint anatomy through observation or diagnostic examinations, such as MRIs and Radiographs. Our program is interactive and seamless. When Dr. Piper uses the software in his consultations, the patient immediately understands why their anatomy is causing facial deformities and pain and is more accepting of proposed treatment options. The software has been a great patient communication tool for Dr. Piper.
Our plans are too create other apps general dentists, restorative dentists, orthodontists, etc.., can use to educate their patients and colleagues. Several Doctors, including Dr. Piper, are using the software extensively in their lectures.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
